What is the most effective way to treat acne?

I've been suffering from acne for years now and no matter what I try, it's not going away. I know it has to do with hormones and growth, since I am a teenager, but it is really getting annoying. I'm so sick of having such a problem. I've tried Proactive, various natural remedies, and other over the counter products, but none have worked. I have oily skin and I'm thinking about using an acne peel as my last resort. I don't want to become dependent on such medicines, however. Any suggestions? What is the most effective way to treat acne?
I %26lt;3 Neutrogena and I use Clean %26amp; Clear cleansing pads (from the Avon magazine).

First, start using the Neutrogena advanced solution set which you can find in any supermarket. Get the Neutrogena foundation or concealer for acne.

Not only does it cover the blemishes smoothly, it gets rid of them!!!!! YAY!!! At least it worked for me.

If you decide to use to use the Neutrogena, carry a makeup bag with it in it.

Or if you are into home remedies (the get-rid-of-quick kind of stuff) here's what I can tell you:

Trying to clear them up in one day is hard and can leave your skin inflamed for a while...

HOWEVER, there are a few remedies that I have experimented with. My friends and family were happy to share some with me.

1. Apply lemons or tomatoes to your face, cut them into fours, and rub along face. Go to sleep and the next day- your pimples should be visibly smaller.

2. A mask of grated apple mixed with a little honey is an excellent remedy for pimples. Most facial masks can be applied to the skin for 15-20 minutes then washed off with warm water, followed by a cold rinse.

3. Another overnight home remedy for zapping a zit is to put a dab of toothpaste on it to help dry it out. You may need to test this on a short-term basis to make sure it doesn't irritate your pimple. Calamine lotion will have the same drying effect. (THIS ONE WORKED FOR ME, MY FRIEND GIT A RED RASH HOWEVER).

4. Grind some nutmeg with milk and apply on affected area. Pimples disappear like magic without leaving a mark.

5. Make a paste of roasted %26amp; powdered pomgranate skin with fresh lime juice and apply over PIMPLES.

6. Rubbing alcohol

7. Mix corn flour with egg white and apply on your face. Let is dry completely for 1/2 hour. Dip your hands in warm water and massage your face and wash off. This when repeated regularly gives you a smooth skin.

8. Honey

9. Dilute some lemon juice with water and dab on pimples to kill germs, cool inflammation and improve blood circulation. Lemon is also good for removing scars. That means any pimples you popped in angst that left a scar will go away over time. Lemon contains acid so it's like having an acid peel thing going, but not. Your skin will be so clear you can set that makeup aside for special occasions.

MOST OF THESE THINGS ARE EASY TO FIND- I didn't include things that are hard to find. I hope on of these works for you.

Though if you are willing to wait, Neutrogena advanced solution has done wonders for me.

Sorry for the length, GOOD LUCK! iHate pimples

By the way, if you are looking to cure acne for the long-term, you need to put in the effort. Eat plenty of vitamins- little greasy foods. Don't touch your face often. Try not to get too stressed, exercise often. You know the wrap! What is the most effective way to treat acne?
You might be young but you can get on birth control to control acne. I had horrible acne at a very young age and my doctor asked my mother if it was alright to put me on it to help with my acne problem. My mother wasn't to happy with the idea of her young daughter on birth control but perhaps you can try that. Instead my doctor gave me a acne medication called Retin-A. It worked wonders. Its sort of a jelly cream you put all over your face for a few minutes and then it peels right off like a face mask. If you use something that needs more time to set in and then peels right off your more likely to control your acne better. Good Luck!
i used this clearsil wipes and then stick, theyre like 拢6 altogeher, forgot what theye called, i think theres some in asdas, they really worked for me, i haven't had them for as few days and my spots have become terrible, it worked for me, hopefully it'll work for you.

And don't worry you'll eventually grow out of it, i know its stressin, but i doesn't look as bad as you think.
You could try something that worked for me, i did not believe it would so i was skeptical, i tried and i my acne is now on it's way to being cured, infact it nearly cured just a few weeks down the line.

you should try skin id, it works a lot better since its personalized just for you and your type of acne. it cleared up my skin perfectly and all my friends who have tried it like it as well. if you want more information i would suggest going to their site, skinid.com good luckk
go to the beauty store and get ';Tea Tree Oil Shampoo'; And while taking a shower rub it on your face and where else its breaking out, use it conditionally ever time you take a shower.. it works
Acne is a bacteria that needs to be killed. Witch Hazel is also works great.. it is a little smelly, but you can use a cotton ball or wash cloth. It will tke away the oiliness. `Tea Tree Oil will kill out the bacteria or weaken it enough not to bother you. Apply it to the effected areas with a q-tip or cotton ball after you have washed.

You should get a good multivitamin(highly suggest) with vitamin a,c,e,d and zinc.. this should help tons! Eating carrots also helps.. there is beta-carotene (Vitamin A) in them which helps prevent acne and repair the skin. Take zinc, zinc is a antibacterial agent. Make sure to dink plenty of water and get good rest at night.

Azelaic Acid is a great natural acid that reduces the growth of bacteria, restores the skins cells and reduces inflammation. Try using a topical with Azelaic Acid in it.. it is safe.

Also, change/wash your pillow case and sheets every other day.

There are ways to put moisture back into your skin and heal it, such as: drinking lots of water, making sure you are eating enough fat/omega-3 oils. Lotions with mineral oil can dry out the skin, use one with out it! Emu Oil ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_oil ) contains vitamin A and E, Sapogens ( makes skin softer), and Oleic acid (a skin cell regenerator, anti-wrinkel agent) - walgreens sells emu oil.. i would think walmart would as well.
