RETARD. Report Abuse

The fatty acids in fish oil can help increase the health of skin in the sense that it will help your skin produce sebum - and sebum actually protects your skin from the outside world by acting by what is called the acid mantle.

However, EPA and DHA (those fatty acids in fish) aren't going to do much to clear up acne....its a reaction on the part of your immune system in response to a metabolic by-product of the bacteria p.acnes. Think that through - its not the bacteria that causes acne - its your immune system that does...

Anyhow - as far as how much to take for the sake of posterity, that is going to depend on several factors - the amount of EPA and the amount of vitamin A (if any the product contains.

If each capsule contains 180 mgs of EPA, I would say 2-3 per day is fine. (which is pretty standard - check the small print on the side of the bottle - they will be 1000 mg capsules of fish oil, but check the fine print to see how much EPA is in it) However, within 3 weeks or so, you might start to bruise easier. EPA is kind of toxic to platelets.
Instead of fish oil take plenty of fruits and vegetables. A high fiber, low-fat diet is excellent in promoting overall general health. Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne .
