What's the best way to treat acne?

I've always struggled with acne. I've tried creams and washing my face with an anti-acne treatment but that takes too long. What's a fast er way? What's the best way to treat acne?
Why not go and ask a dermatologist? I'm the same way when it comes to acne, and after nothing worked, i finally decided to go to a dermatologist. Now my face is starting to finally clear up. It's better than wasting money on product after product. What's the best way to treat acne?
unfortunately, acne is one thing that you have to be patient with and try many things in order to find what's best for you. I used proactiv for a year then it stopped working for me. Right now I scrub with baking soda, moisturize with aloe vera gel/lavender oil (sometimes tea tree oil), then if i need extra moisturizing I use The body shop's seaweed day cream. I get about a few very small bumps a week now (probably from stress). they are barely noticeable so I believe this works for me. I saw results after a week. Now I have to get rid of old acne scars. :(

My suggestion is to either try homemade treatments (baking soda and water, sugar and water etc. ) or buy your acne products from places that give you your money back no matter what if you are not satisfied like the body shop or sephora. you just have to find what works for you.
It really depends on your skin type.

I tried proactiv and it dried my skin to a level of pain!

Try something that's pH balanced. I recently found Phisoderm foaming face wash. It's in a recent line of their products that are pH balanced. You can't go wrong with that. All human bodies have a pH level within a certain range, and using products with that balance keep it that way.

I had porcelain skin as a teenager...no problems whatsoever. At that time I used clinique products exclusively. Now that I'm older, I've had acne problems, but the pH balanced products have really helped.

*Also, if you wear make-up, make sure you change out your applicators, brushes, etc, very regularly. They can start to carry bacteria and cause a problem no matter what else you do.

Good luck :)

My friend's sis goes to one and gets ';treatments'; every time she goes.

My favorite is Physoderm *sp*- it keeps acne down, noticeable effect in about a week.

You were not asking about weird ways to cure acne, but..... take a 10 day-2 week backpacking trek and carry, say, 5 days worth of food with you before getting to a restocking point. Even without showers, there is almost no fat in freeze-dried food or lightweight bread and some cheese. I was so surprised when I came back home and my face was almost clear...

But yea, if you're not an ';outdoorsy'; kind of person, I recommend Physoderm.
proactiv
L-bri pure-n-natural skin-care.
Use on-the-spot treatments where you apply it to the specific area of the pimple and leave it there, preferably overnight after you have thoroughly cleansed your face. Overnight while you're sleeping is the best time to apply the treatment as you have gotten rid of all the dirt from you face and won't get dirt like you normally do during the day time when you are doing work and moving from place to place.

Some treatments I recommend would be the CLEARASIL ACNE TREATMENT which is a white cream you apply on the spot. I have seen the results for MARIO BADESQUE's DRYING LOTION which you apply on the spot also. This is very effect as it really REALLY drys out the pimple and it really disappears in 2-3 days.
Try baking soda, it's work as a scrub, The purpose of a scrub is to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin that can eventually clog pores and lead to acne spots. To start off, you'll want to mix a small amount of baking soda with some water for form a paste. Baking soda is very effective as a scrub, so you want to be sure to be extra careful when applying it to your face. For first time use don't apply too much baking soda, it can make you feel itchy on your face. Moreover, don't forget to do exercise regularly, at least jog three laps per day could help.
I would use a system, not just a bunch of products from difffrent brands.

this one worked perfectly on me

';The Perricone Prescription for Treating Acne'; by Nicholas Perricone....a book you can buy for about $15....he's theory for acne is we are inflaming our cells with the foods we eat and causing acne outbreaks, sickness, aging etc...

i bought the book and tried it and it works....i didn't follow it exactly to the tee...i follow it for breakfast and lunch and it makes a huge difference. he also has a 3 day plan in there if you need your skin cleared quickly...this is the thing that has worked for me so far along with Cetaphyl face wash. good luck
